Early Spring

A few months ago I went on an early spring hike and I decided that today is the day to update this thing. So here is a little spring about halfway up the trail:

This is an unrelated creek that ran into a small beaver pond, the pussy-willows were pretty great so I tried to catch them:

A great deal of the trail was still covered in snow, and mostly as deep as my mid-thigh. "How do you know how deep it was?" you ask? Well, I just know. This is a great picture of my legs. I was trying to show my traction shoe-covers. They were pretty handy in the mud and snow, thanks Santa:

Featured here is the beaver pond from before, I thought it was pretty impressive. I told the beaver so, but I am not sure it heard me, my voice is kind of quiet most of the time:

Oh yeah, this next photo wasn't taken on the same day, but it is me and the penguins. They live in Sandy so I thought I would go visit since Mel and I never got to see them in NZ. Melanie and I were the only people in attendance over the age of 8 who didn't bring children with us, but it was okay because we fit in pretty well with that age group anyway. We spent about 40 minutes just watching these big guys walking around and diving into the water; don't regret one minute of it. We also pet the rays, but I didn't get any good photos of me doing that so if you want to see it later I will act it out for you, just ask:

Awesome photos Molly. We should go on another hardcore hiking adventure when I'm not so busy... and by "hardcore," I mean one without interpretive placards every 5 feet.

Thanks for the update....I'm up for "Hard Core"!!...I think

Me, too, even though placards do serve their purpose for not well traveled people like me.

I want to go hiking too...when I'm not pregnant. Next year is the year, even it is just up my stairs and back down again.

very well, everyone is invited for a hardcore hike. Especially Tracie so she can fill in for the placards with some interpretive dance instead. who's with me on this one?!
